Mixed Senior Accountant/ Auditor or Assistant Manager
PMK Associates is an ambitious, growing Practice. Having successfully acquired another firm in 2019, we are keen to undertake another acquisition at the earliest opportunity, once key members of the team are embedded into the clients/portfolio and the firm’s systems. Our Senior Partner was formally a Partner of a top 50 firm and had a defined strategy to develop and progress further, so it will be an opportunity for the right candidate to grow alongside the firm. Opting to operate as a sole practitioner, the firm maintains a strong best-of-breed and quality ethos and foundation.
We are initially offering a mixed role and seeking an experienced Mixed Senior Accountant/Auditor or Assistant Manager to take charge of an allocated portfolio containing approximately 30% of Audits presently, which are mostly undertaken in the office. This requires the candidate to be adequately experienced in preparing effective and compliant Audits from planning through to completion and to assist the firm with its Audit Quality Procedures. The remaining portfolio will require the review and finalisation of several Ltd Company, LLP, Sole trader and self-assessment tax returns. The candidate will also help control the timing and completion of these assignments and to ensure the firm’s quality is maintained.
All documentation has been drafted by the team and will require a review, “topping and tailing” to close off and to liaise with clients on input/outputs. There will be no requirement to draft accounts or undertake bookkeeping, but rather to coordinate the workflow. Experience in the preparation of consolidated accounts would be ideal.
The candidate must have been working in a UK practice, completing a similar role for 3-5 years minimum. This role is suited to someone keen on a new position as a key part of a developing team.
We can offer career progression towards a full manager role in time and the ability to grow further and be mentored by the Partner.
Requirements: ACCA or ICAEW qualified and can demonstrate relevant Audit experience
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Expected Pay depending on Experience and seniority
Accounts and Tax Senior role
We are looking for an experienced Practice, senior Accountant to review and take ownership of certain allocated clients.
This will cover a Mixture of Ltd Companies and Sole trader accounts and related tax returns, a slant towards “creatives’, being Camera/sound/film operators/sound engineers/directors”. This experience is not essential, but ideally an interest in related tax matters will be helpful, for the holistic parts of the clients portfolio.
Most of the processing work is completed already by the team, so it’s more a function of owning/responsibility of the input/throughput/output of various jobs to deliver (within deadlines); the role is therefore more a pure review process, rather than actually “doing” the Accounts/tax preparation and also key to control information flows.
You will also need to monitor and react to ad hoc queries from emails/calls and respond accordingly in a timely nature.
The current team members also produce most of the SA tax returns, so you will be responsible for completeness of info, communicating to the client, then reviewing basic self-assessment tax returns as part of sole trader accounts process and standalone tax returns.
Our team already produce most bookkeeping, drafting of accounts/tax and also prepare the firms standard tax/accounting working papers. So this is mostly coordination and a review process; understanding the key issue/risks as part of the planning and review process and then enclosing final packs and points to client. The role is therefore focused on the output part of the process and maintaining quality reviews and the related output is key. Responsibility to ensure PMK policies are followed, to reduce risks.
Also a small element to liaise and review payroll on these clients (payroll processing undertaken by the Team), so just therefore coordinating and reviewing/sending out. Same with Quarterly Vat returns, management Accounts with review and send.
The role needs a person to be energetic, logical minded, a good listener and ability to execute instructions provided. Ideal for someone that wants to be a key part of a small team, and a firm that is planning to continue to grow and Mentored by the Partner. Having acquired in 2019, we plan to grow further by acquisition, as well as organic growth.
Suitable for someone looking for a long term development plan.
We are looking for someone that us a good communicator, someone sharp minded with enthusiasm and common sense, someone with an open mind, listens well and can execute the suggested approach/tasks and being a team player wanting to get behind the business drivers.
The role can develop and progress further over time.
